While some may colloquially refer to this set as being “rushed out the door” by Topps, it is held in high esteem by collectors as a unique snapshot of USA’s political history. Despite its initial swift sales, the cards were not widely considered collectible at the time. Today, although these cards are not classified as rare, finding them in mint condition and unslabbed has become increasingly challenging. The cardboard stock used in this set quickly succumbed to discoloration and wear and tear, contributing to their dwindling availability in top-notch condition.

High quality card sets in “Near Mint” condition can command prices starting from $800 and can go even higher, while a set in “Good” condition typically sells for around $100. It is worth noting that Rosan card company also introduced a JFK card set just before Topps released their own set. These cards feature very similar black and white images, along with short black and white descriptions on the back, printed on white or unfinished card stock. Although these sets are currently selling at a much lower value, the Rosan card set has shown an increase in value over the years, possibly due to a decrease in supply.

What do you think of this set of cards?
